Nine more affordable cars – new and used – when you want to drive in luxury

Looking for affordable luxury cars is like looking for gold.

Sometimes you hit the mother lode as we did in two previous blog posts, and sometimes you need to be satisfied with a few nuggets, the likes of which we’ll tell you about here.

In addition to the earlier lists of about 40 luxury vehicles available under $35.000, we found nine more that should be on the list of anyone longing for something shiny and expensive-looking, using some additional resources online at Autotrader.com, CheatSheet.com and Bankrate.com.

“If you’re shopping for a new car on a tight budget, you might not think you can afford a high-end model from an upscale luxury brand,” said Autotrader, an online marketplace. “But our latest [research] proves that some luxury cars are more affordable than you might expect.”

Two vehicles that made the Autotrader’s list, 10 luxury cars you can afford to buy, and CheatSheet’s list, 5 luxury cars a middle class worker can afford, but not our previous compilations, were the BMW X1 crossover and the Buick Verano midsize sedan, both of which can be found at under $31,000.

And seven more vehicles made one of today’s lists but not those described previously, all of which are available for under $35,000 and ranging from 2008 to 2015 model years.

In its article, Top 6 used luxury cars under $25,000, Bankrate.com, a consumer financial services company, included the 2008 BMW X3 compact SUV, 2010 Volvo S80 full-size sedan, 2008 Lincoln Navigator full-size SUV and 2009 Cadillac SRX midsize SUV. Two other vehicles made our previous compilations – the 2010 Acura TSX compact sedan and 2010 Audi A4 midsize sedan.

Meanwhile, CheatSheet.com, a personal finance website, was the only source that identified the 2015 Chrysler 200 midsize sedan, and one of our two sources that named the BMW X1 and Buick Verano.

Other CheatSheet vehicles were the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class and 2014 Acura ILX midsize sedans.

Among the more expensive baubles that appeared nowhere else, Autotrader named the Infiniti G37/Q40 midsize sedan and Lexus CT 200h crossover, available under $35,000. Its list of 10 also included the BMW X1 and Buick Verano, along with previously identified Acura ILX, Audi A3, Cadillac ATS, Volvo S60 and Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class midsize sedans and Lincoln MKC crossover.

As we found before, you don’t have to be rich to take the road in a luxury car.

“Not every luxury car has a six figure price tag,” said CheatSheet. “Some luxury (or luxury-looking) cars are even affordable to the average person.”
