Behold 47 of the top-rated cars for 2020 – Edmunds awards

Outstanding.

The word could be used over and over again for 47 of the top-rated cars for 2020 at Edmunds.com, ranging from extra-small sedans to exotic sport coupes and electric vehicles.

It might be just the place to start if you’re shopping for a new car.

“The hottest new vehicles of the year tend to get all the buzz, but newer doesn’t always equal better,” said Alistair Weaver, editor-in-chief at Edmunds.

“The Edmunds Top Rated Awards honor the best vehicles on sale today and are the result of thousands of hours of testing both on the track and in the real world. We believe our process is one of the most rigorous and empirical in the industry, which makes these awards a true measure of excellence.”

Edmunds ranked the cars based on data collected on its test track and “using a 115-mile real-world test loop of city streets, freeways and winding canyons.”

The rankings use 30-plus scores on performance, comfort, interior, technology, utility and value.

Sedans

Here are highlights of the sedan rankings by category and including the Edmunds rating on a scale of 10 and starting manufacturers’ suggested retail prices (MSRP):

Extra-small sedans

While there aren’t enough vehicles in this category to rank yet, according to Edmunds, the automotive research website, still recognizes two models.
